Default New suzuki 230 quadsport

I just had a 80's kickstart chain drive suzuki 230 given to me. It had a broken control arm (which i've welded back together, had some broken plastics that i had to repair and it doesn't start.

I have gotten it running from push starts, but it wont fire up from a kick unless you have had it previously running and kick the hell out of it with gas involved.

It won't idle either. I have pulled the carb, rebuilt it with a rebuild kit and cleaned everything, still no luck.

I haven't really worked with the mikuni carbs a lot and was wondering what i should be looking for to try to get this thing to fire up from a kick.

Thanks everyone!

I would start looking at your valve adjustment, and possibly a worn out intake valve, I had that problem with my LT-4WD, did the exact same thing, had to pull start it, it would start when warm, after, and it turned out to be a worn intake valve.

I do not have the specs on me at the moment, but I am sure if you search through the Quadsport thread, you would find them in there.

As for checking the valves, you need to remove the round caps on the valve cover, as the valve cover is also the camshaft carrier, and rocker carrier, so once it is removed, the valves are closed, and the camshaft is free to move.

its definately a compression problem. i would rebuild and be sure to hone cylinder. then lap valves and you should be good to go.
