its been well over a year now and still not starting in gear, ive been trying for awhile now and cant pin point whats wrong. anyone have any ideas on whats wrong , how to fix? what could it be?

Ususally there is a neutral interlock, which stops you from stating it in gear so it doesnt take off on you or something. Sounds about right to me.

 

The obvious question: Is the handbrake on? As it will only start in gear with the left handbrake pulled in, check to make sure that the left lever activates the brake light. If it doesn't, then the bike doesn'tknw that the brake is engaged and will not staret in gear.
