Question 2003 ltz 400 idels fine, dies when gassed

I have a 2003 LTZ 400 that dies when I hit the gas. I was riding it the other day and all the sudden it just puked out. I re-stared it and it Ideled fine, but as soon as I gave it some gas it stalled. I can get it to rev up if I play with the choke. I figured I was not getting fuel, so I cleaned the carb out. I had some junk in the bottom of the bowl. I cleaned all the jets. It is still doing the same thing, even spitting some gas out of the intake when I can get it to rev up. It will sit there and idel all day, but as soon as I give it some gas, it pukes right out. Any ideas?

Check the vacuum controlled fuel petcock. Turn it to "Pri" and see if that does it, if so, replace the petcock.

Also check the gas tank vent tube for clogs. My brothers YFZ had a similar issue once, it would start aand idle but choke out and die if given any gas. Turns out the throttle position sensor had gotten dislodged.

Did you fix the problem that caused crap to get into the bowl? Like crap in the gas tank, bad or no filter, etc... It wouldn't be unlikely that you have more crap in the bowl and the main jet is plugged again, or didn't get all the way clean last time. And the needle didn't come loose did it?

Quad is running like a champ now! I took the carb apart again and cleaned it over and blew everything out again. Put it back together and it runs great. I have no idea what I did different but whatever it was it worked. Thanks for the help everyone.

Probably was a bit more dirt upstream of the carb that found its way in after the first cleaning. You may want to install a fuel filter before anything else finds its way into our carb and/or engine.

definitely get a fuel filter, i figured it was a dirty carb, most people dont take there time with cleaning carbs, but man you really have to, just takes one little spec of dirt to make a carb act funky, when i clean a carb i take about an hour sometimes when i clean them
just so i KNOW its clean, because its not fun having to take it back off and clean it a second time anyways.
