Default Need a little help with a routine oil change on quadrunner

Hi, I want to attempt (first time) to change the oil in my 92 Quadrunner Ltf250 2wd. I believe I know where to drain the oil,the center bolt hole on the oil filter cap. However...... I am not sure where to add oil in. Do I add it in the back on the differential case?, theres a filler cap that says 10w40? The only other place I see to add it is on the side of the engine a few inches above the window, but the hole is tiny, i would need a tiny funnel? I am a bit intimidated by changing the oil filter on this as well, I dont want to screw anything up, I have heard of people putting the filter in backwards and no oil circulates and you can ruin the engine. I dont want this to happen. Oh one last question, how many quarts do I add in? Is the oil level considered full if it completely fills the window or is it supposed to run halfway up? THanks for any help or advice.

it should go in the hole that says 10w40 on it. and theres a sight glas on the lower right side in between the motor and the diff. fill it to the highest line.

and im pretty sure there should be a bigger bolt hole on the bottom of the case, that will get ALL the oil out, while the hole on the oil filter cover may only get some out.

oh, and make sure to replace your filter every 2 changes!

oh and dont sweat it about the filter, it can only go in one way.

and the window has 2 sets of lines on the sides of it, fill it to the higher line when its cold, and then run it, and check it again because the oil filter needs to get filled up.

the easiest thing to do is to fill it to the top of the window, its only a little extra, but it doesnt hurt anything.

good luck!

First off the oil drain is the plug underside of housing below the big plug whitch is the fill plug hole ( at the rear of the engine ) back side of quad at underside of housig ( dry capacity of sump is 3860 mL ( 4.1 us quarts 10w40 , Refilling after changing oil and oil filter requires only 3600 mL ( 3.8 us quarts ) as some oil will be retained in housing .

Oil requirement after only changing oil is 3500 mL ( 3.7 us quarts ) , manufacturer recomends changing to oil and oil filter after the first months or ( 100 miles ) of operation and every three months or1000 Km ( 600 miles ) thereafter .
Some people change oil filter every 2 oil changes i however renew oil filter with every oil change because of contamination of dirty oil trapped in the oil cooler and engine passages that trap the dirty oil !

The oil filter may be renewed after removing the side cover , make sure certain inner "O" ring is installed properly before inserting filter . Incert new oil filter with open end towards engine and closed end towards side cover . Renew side cover "O" and ensure filter retaining spring is properly located when installing cover .
Fill oil level untill oil lever in side glass is between the middle and top of sight glass , then start engine and let idle 2 to 3 minutes and check for leaks ; then shut off engine and wait a few minutes and recheck oil lever in sight glass and add oil as needed insuring oil level is at the halfway to top of sight glass . Again Note : be sure that the oil filter is installed correctly or engine damage will result if installed improperly !
This info is directly from the factory service and repair shop manual , and from my own experience from servicing 1989 Suzuki LT4WD 250 Quadrunner and a 1993 Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ , i hope this helps while it's a good thing to own a Factory Service and repair Manual ; it's not as big of a deal changing oil & oil filter just make sure you install the filter as i stated above ( Insert the oil filter with open end towards engine and closed end towards side cover and you will be good to go ! and welcome to the forums !
