Default 2001 LT-A500FK Quadmaster

I have a 2001 Suziki ATV Quadmaster; LT-A500FK. It has 500 miles on it. While going downhill or coasting, it missfires (not backfires). It is like the engine jerks. I don't know if this is a transmition problem or spark plugs. Myself and the kids drive it around our 10 acres (no hard riding).

I have not changed the sparks plugs, yet.

I would welcome a suggestion.

Thank you,
David

chances are its carburator related, but it definatley wouldnt hurt to atleast pull the plug(s) and wire brush em off, and see what happens.

Thanks,
I will try pulling the plugs. Anything special besides a deep socket wrench to check the plugs. I changed the plugs on my snowmobile once. I would think this would be simliar.

Correct?

im not too familiar with the quadmaster 500, but i sure can tell ya, some of these newer bikes are the biggest pains in the ***** when it comes to doing the simplest of things.

I changed the spark plug with a new plug. Problem still exists.

When I drive downhill (the throttle is NOT depressed the whole time) the engine goes clunk like it is trying to downshift. When I drive uphill (throttle is depressed the whole time) the engine reacts fine.

Any further direction?

well, does it sound like an actual metal-on-metal clanking noise? i was under the impression that it was popping as in spitting and sputtering...
