Need advice please: Starter LT-R450 (LTR 450, LTR450)
I am posting this for my son. He has a 2006 LT-R450. It needs a starter is what the mechanic will tell me. Basically if you hook jumper cables to the battery, it will fire great. The battery is brand new and with out cables, you have to start on first try, or it won't happen. So a new OEM starter is about $350 and an aftermarket around $130 ... HERE IS MY QUESTION. I can get an almost new OEM starter for a 2008 LT-A450 for $50 from a friend of mine. Do you think that will interchange? Here is the part numbers to easily compare:
OEM#: 31100-11H00 LT-A450 2008
OEM#: 31100-45G00 LT-R450 2006
What is your opinion of aftermarket starters too? I am new to this so any help would be appreciated. Any other testing I should do ... do you think it is starter relay/solenoid??
OEM#: 31100-11H00 LT-A450 2008

hey welcome to the forum!
so youre saying that if you jump the battery it cranks fine? if thats the case, and a mechanic told me it needed a starter, id kick him in the teeth lmao. but seriously, thats ridiculous.
anyways the lta starter will most likley not fit. aftermarket starters are fine and will save you some bucks.
i'd check all the wiring for damage and cleanliness (no corrosion) and if all is good there, id suspect the battery. its NOT uncommon to have a new dud battery or a brand new one that goes bad after only a few rides (thats why im all kickstart lol). if neither of those does it, either the solenoid or POSSIBLY the starter, but chances are LOWWWW!
good luck!
