Default suzuki 400 oil change and filter

Need help on how to change the oil in my 05' suzuki 400. So far I drained it out of the oil tank but I heard you have to drain somewhere else too....is it located on the side of it? Where is the oil filter? Sorry Im new to these machines. Also Im not sure if it is an oil problem or plugs but I was riding today and I was attempting to go up a steep hill and my quad stalled and rolled back down to the bottom....I started it again and now it wont stay at an idol it just starts and then shuts off or sometimes it will idol like sputtering for a while.....any info would be appreciated.

Which Suzuki 400 - the Eiger/KQ or the Z? I'll answer as if this is the Eiger.

First off, the sputtering problem is likely some crud caught in the carb. The Eiger is prone to holding crap in the carb if it overturns. It's even been known to have bits pf plastic from its manufacture caught up in there. It's a good idea to add an in-line fuel filter sometime between the tank and the carb. The fix can be as simple as dropping the bowl on the carb and cleaning it out.

Oil - There is only one oil drain. The filter is a typical spin-on tyle located on the front of the engine - youcan see it if youlook through the side openings around the engine.

Now, If you have a Z400 - this may all be a bit different.
