87 LTF230H rear brake problem...help!
I bought this old atv to upgrade my grandson from a Chinese 110. I need to get brakes working and started on the rear. Do I have to take the whole axle out in order to get to the rear shoes? All the schematics I have looked at indicate that is what I am going to have to do. I got the cover off the drum and it looks like it is splined onto the axle and everything is held together by the nuts on the left side of the axle? Anyone done a rear brake job on one of these?
any help will be appreciated. I am not sure what I will need to replace if I have to pull the axle out of the rear end...

rear brake remove/replace
Well, apparently no-one reading the forum has attempted to replace the rear brake shoes.. You do have to remove the rear axle to get to the shoes. The drum is splined onto the axle and can't be removed from the right side of the axle. I was able to slide the axle several inches to the right and get the old brake shoes off. I could not completely remove the axle because it is binding on something. If someone has a repair manual for this year model I would appreciate knowing if something has to be removed from rear end housing in order to slip axle completely out. Like maybe the odometer gear or something else(guessing here). I have ordered replacement parts and am looking for a repair manual.
