Default 86 ltf230 carb problemas

Hi all new here, came across this forum while tring to resolve the problem with my 86 230 ranch quad. Here goes..

About a month ago I ran the sucker out of gas, Im pretty sure I sucked some crap up from bottom of tank, because when I refilled it it wouldnt idle anymore. So this weekend I ordered a carb kit and completely cleaned and rebuilt carb. Now the dang thing idles like a champ, but it will rev inconsistently, very sluggish when revving, and takes a long time to return to idle.

So my dad and I thought it was to lean....we checked fuel pump, its pumpin a plenty, replaced a fuel line, carb is definatly getting fuel. Adjusted float, adjusted throttle slide/needle. Checked air filter, checked valves...the current thesis is a vacuem leak, but none have been found..Also sprayed carb cleaner around intake to check for leakes.

So sometimes it will respond right away when revving, sometimes it will die, and soimetimes will bog, then catch itself and rev. Usually from idle it bogs then revvs.

Any help is greatly appreciated as we are clueless. Thanks!!!

also we found a hole going into the carb with no threades, and nothing came out when I took it apart, nothing in the carb kit came to replace it. I looked in some online schematics and nothing seems to go into it. When we spray carb cleaner into the hole the engine revs.......

could this hole be where your fuel screw went?

Where is the hole located? Could be the idle air bypass hole. Check my carb write-up in the vault.

check the idle screw on the side of the carb. We have a lt230s and it is really picky about the idle screw. We just found a good balance between idle and consistent smooth revving. I don't know why it does that the idle screw shouldn't affect rev but I discovered otherwise.
