bleeding front brake problem
I have taken apart my front brakes on an 85 lt250 and am having difficulty bleeding the brakes. I have tried the squeeze lever, open bleeder, close bleeder, release lever method with no success. I have tried also to squeeze the handle very slowly 15-20 times, open the bleeder valve, close valve, release handle method also with no success. The reservoir is full and the level never seems to go down. I have blown out the lines and am confident that they are not plugged. Short of using a vacuum pump does anyone have any suggestions.

Open the bleeder and pump away on the brake handle. Don't worry about closing the bleeder each time. It's just a waste of time. Make sure you run the rez dry.
After you get fluid coming out of the bleeder then you can close the bleeder and pump it up a few times. Then crack the bleeder the get the last of the air out.
If your master is good, this will work.

Doc is right,if you blew the lines out, you have a huge amount of air to purge, do like he says and pump until it starts to spit out the bleeder, then close the bleeder, and do the pump and bleed until the line is full. Have to admit, though, the little hand vacuum pump and bottle trick is great, just pulls all the air out, and fresh fluid all the way down to the caliper, nice when you are doing it all alone. Check into one of those one way check valves that go over the bleeder, that way you can keep pumping and not worry about sucking air back in. Keep at it, sometimes it can be a real pain, but good brakes are important, one second of bad brakes can mean a lifetime of injury !!
