Default 85 LT 230 GE Questions.

We just picked up a suzuki lt230ge quad and i had a couple questions, to change the rear breaks it seems i have to drive the axle out to expose the shoes, is there anything I should know about doing that, next, the oil level in the sight glass, is the level read with the engine running?? That's about it for now, i'm sure more will follow, thanks in advance. John

you shouldnt have to drive the axle out to change the brakes. all you have to do is remove the right rear wheel and then the brake shoe cover, then change the brake shoes. as far as the oil level you read it when its not running

There is a cover that covers the drum but the drum itself is part of the axle, that's what i thought about the oil but when the engine is running the glass shows nearly nothing.

when you pull the axle nut off the right side the drum will slide off the axle. if it doesnt then you may need to make sure the breaks are all the way released to let it slide off. if they have any tension at all it wont come off. and when the engine is running the oil is sloshing around everywhere because the clutch and gears are moving it so you wont see it through the siteglass then
