Default LT 230S No Spark after oil and spark plug change

Hi all,

I was hoping that somebody could help me out here...

I bought a '88 LT230SG for my brother for Christmas. It ran good when I bought it. But, the stator cover was cracked (chain whipped). So, I changed out the rear swing arm bearings and JB welded the stator cover. It still ran after that. Then I replaced the spark plug, changed the oil, oil filter and air filter. After that, I could not get it to start. It turns out that it has no spark. I don't know very much about electricals on a quad like this. Can someone walk me through what wires I should check with an ohm meter and what the results should be?

My brother and I thank you,

Rob

Hmm if it ran before, and not now, I would doubt the wiring would just come loose. Are you sure the spark plug boot is attached tight on the new plug? The 230 vault has all the specs the parts should OHM out at.

Specs / Info (Suzuki LT230S Vault)

I'm pretty sure it's tight, but that's where I'm going to start tonight. I'm also going to check if the cap and the wire have good contact...

Thanks,
Rob

I checked the cap and I don't think that's it... I'm stuck without an ohm meter, so I'll have to buy one tomorrow.

Thanks,
Rob

If the quad stopped running after a plug change I would put the old plug in.

Could you have stressed the plug wire during the change? I would try that then just trace the wires back till you find fire or a component that is broken.

Thanks for the replies. I just picked up an 86 LT230s parts bike that runs good. I'm going to try switching components till I find the problem.

Thanks Rob
