Default 2006 z400 airbox lid

i am trying to do a few mods to my 2006 z400 such as yoshimura full exhaust, K&N air filter, jet the carb, and uni airbox vents and thats what my question is. in the airbox lid on mine after you take it off on the bottom is a round type thing for the intake i guess and it is riveted on there, can i take it off or is there a special purpose??

I had an 05 Z and if I am correct, I think that you may be looking at the piece that deflects air to the filter?? I also had the mods done to mine , but never removed it so I am not sure if this would hurt or not. I assume it would not as others have used diferent aftermarket lids on theirs. Hopefully, some current owners will chime in on this for you as well.

Thats what I thought you were refering to, I dont think that it would hurt. Especially since you are using the airbox vents to help get more air to it.

Being a holiday weekend, a lot of us were away from the computer. Honestly, on my 06 kfx, I don't remember seeing that part. Thought it was just a flat lid. Now I'm gonna have to look when I get home.

it is part of the "snorkle" to the air box. kinda deflects water around and into the bottom of the air box where it can drain out the bottom and not go in to the carb. Seth 03
