Question ltz400 dies...

looking for help on why my 400 runs for about 45 minutes and then seems to start to lose power and starts stalling easily, and eventually will no longer start. I know it is probably something with the charging system but what could it be that i need to replace?

Welcome to the forums.

There was a flow chart posted on another thread that I made a copy of. Unfortunately, it's at home. So if you can wait till this evening, I'll make a copy and send it to you. It's looks like it could help you solve the problem.

Hopefully, you'll get a few other posts with some good suggestions too in the meantime.

something to check,

long story short i checked everything on a honda recon that did the same exact thing, turns out it was the gas cap because it wasn't letting air into and out of the tank, just make sure yours is good

Here's the link.

It's for a bike, but you can still use it for the atv. Hope it helps.

Don't think it's an electrical issue. Electrical is intermittent so that it's either working or not....not a gradual drop off of power. I agree that it sounds like its fuel related too. Other things to check...clogged fuel filter screen... Had that happen to me on my YAM FJ1200 street bike. It would die, then after letting it sit a few minutes, it would start up and run....for a few minutes before it starved the motor...
