The wire I installed on mine was actually a jumper, in others words Spliced into the wire and grounded to the frame, the connections remained the same as best I remember. I will check the color of the wire this coming weekend as it's not at my house right now. Good luck ,I hope you get it straight!

It looks like it's the neutral switch. I finally got to remove all the exhaust stuff that was in the way and I removed the switch and was able to ground the little contact inside the switch and make the neutral light come on and the started also cranked. What I don't understand is why the little contact does not make a ground connection when the switch is in place.....the spring loaded ball that the switch comes in contact with appears to be working fine, it moves when the shifter changes position swo there is really no reason why it should not make contact with the switch when in neutral. I guess I need to investigate further before spending the $$ for the neutral switch.

I grounded the Neutral switch and tried to start it up. No luck...I have no spark. Got out the meter and service manual and started looking at the trouble shooting chapter. According to the book, I need a special Suzuki test tool to ohm out the CDI. I called the Suzuki dealer to see if they had a way of testing the CDI and they said they didn't...but the did say most likely the Stator was the problem. Could be...the motor did get hot enough to cook the Neutral switch..maybe it cooked the Stator too.

I just got around to pulling the left side case off and took a look at the stator. It doesn't look good. It looks like the stator is cooked. The wires that come from the stator and feed into the harness appear to be broke and/or melted and inside the stator drum it looks like there are remnants of melted stuff. I didn't get a chance to really clean stuff up, but at first glance...I would say that's the problem.
