My 09 500 axi has a very distinct metalic knock when I give it throttle. If I let off on throttle it stops knocking. It does it more in high range, not as much in low range, but still does it. It as seems to do it slightly when idleing, especially when engine is cold. This is my first Suzuki so does not seem right to me. I have always owned Hondas, and they never did this. It has 169 miles on it. Is this knock normal for a Suzuki?

 

I have an 09 500 and have heard no strange noises or knocks whatsoever on mine! My advice since it has only 169 miles on it is to take it to your dealer and let them hear it and have it checked over. Im sure it is still under warranty! My wifes 450 KQ makes no such noises either. Take it to the dealer!!! Good luck

Have them pull the head, and check the valves,cam, and piston for wear. The 450's are known for engine failure due to oiling issues, maybe the 500 is the same.

 

Thanks, Hefty Lefty. As I told StillV1. its going to dealers tomorrow. I believe the 500 engine is just a 450 engine with a bigger bore. I sure hope they find the problem. I really like the machine, but am very concerned with the engine noise. I'll post the results..
