Default eiger brakes not firm

Have an 04 eiger with around 3k miles and have replaced the front brakes several times with no problems. This time i had problems getting the pads to fit onto the rotors and after I got them on they feel like they need bled or maybee the calipers are not sliding properly. before i replaced the pads they felt fine just needed replaced. any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Did you compress the piston to get the new pads on? I always clean up the sliders when replacing pads. ALso, what kind of pads did you use. Try using EBC severe duty pads - it will drastically cut down on how many times you replace the pads.

Yeah i compressed the calipers, I don't think the calipers are sliding well and staying close to the rotors maybee my calipers need replaced? Also I'm not sure of the brand of the pads I got them on ebay and they came in a plastic bag, that may be my problem.

I take some emery cloth to the sliding area, not the piston, just to clean it up a bit. EBC brake pads are a little pricey, but they last forever. If the pads didn't go on easily, maybe they aren't a good fit and that is causing your problem. I bought my pads at 4atvtires.com. I would try different pads. If that didn't fix it, never hurts to have an extra set of pads around.

I just checked and the severe duty pads are $30 plus shipping. Not bad.

I can't loosen the left side caliper to clean it because a rock or something hit the part where the screw comes out. I might can bore it out with a grinding wheel but for now does anybody know the max thickness the front pads can be? I just bought these and really don't want to buy another set unless i have to?

as long as your pistons move they should grind the pads to dust i would bet your losing fluid or their just stuck
