a few questions about a 2003 400 Eiger
#1
My girlfriend just bought a 2003 400 Eiger with 4500 miles on it. We didn't get an owners manual with it. Are there any helpful hints to changing the front and rear diff fluid? You just fill it up to the bottom of the threads? Are there any grease fittings? Are the drain plugs for changing the engine and diff oils easy to find?Any other things to service besides the air filter? Thanks

Manual at home, I'm at work, so can not give you details.
The front diff. fluid: I forget but do beleive it is the hardest to find and service.
The rear diff. fluid: -- easy, just take off the lower cover and should see the drain. I do beleive you fill it up to fill hole.
Engine oil -- drian plug/bolt is on bottom of engine, not hard to find. You may want to take off the bottom plastic skid plate to keep oil from going everywhere. Just fill it back up at dipstick.
NO grease fittings-- good and bad.

Add an inline fuel filter. Eigers are set to run lean from the factory so I would suggest a carb kit or at least a larger main jet and richening the idle mixture.
Here's a prior thread that you may find helpful.

Here's another on disassembling the carb.

changing the diff fluid should be EASY. On my 07 Eiger there is a drain plug and a fill plus which are the same size and taken out by a large allen key, there is a third plug that you remove with a small socket that is about 1.5 inches down that you fill to.
1. Remove all 3 plugs.
2. Once oil has drain replace bottom plug.
3. Fill through top hole (I use a cone shaped cap that screws on the oil quart) until fluid comes consitantly out of the middle (smaller) hole.
4. Replace small socket plug, and put a tiny squirt of fluid in the top hole for good measure.
5. Replace top plug.
Repeat for front
