popping noise in front end.....

popping noise in front end.....
Ive got a 2000 King Quad 300.
In 4x4 in any of the three ranges.....diff lock on or off.....going forward.....no noise, no problems.
Going in reverse turning left.....no problems.
Going in reverse turning right but only in super low with the diff locked I get some popping when turning hard.
Is this a sign of an issue or just "nature of the beast" with the diff lock on?
