09 KingQuad 450 AXI - Good buy?

I'm really wanting to get back into quad riding. I've been stressed and the only time I'm not is when I'm riding something! How well does this quad perform? Trails, mud, throttle response? I understand it has a Differential lock. Which seriously catches my attention. I just want a good all around quad and I've always stuck with Suzuki. Note: I'm not wanting a KQ 750 so don't try to pull me in lol. Also, if any of you have the King Quad 400 I would like to hear some reviews on that one as well.
Thanks so much!

I have a 2008 KQ400 and really enjoy it. It is used on trails, and as a snow plow (very popular with the neighbors!).
KQ400's are really Suzuki Eigers--for the 2008 model year, Suzuki updated the Eiger bodywork to King Quad style plastic.
Eiger/KQ400's are known for their durability. The engine is a simple air & oil cooled motor. They have a straight rear axle and dual rear shocks. Independent rear suspension of the 450axi yields a better ride quality and trail handling, but is offset by the higher production price, simplicity, and ease of repair.
Eiger/KQ400's have been on the market for going on ten years--a lot of aftermarket parts and accessories are available.
Suzuki likely recouped their manufacturing & tooling costs years ago, and this allows Suzuki to keep the KQ400 price low.
The quad is simple and low-tech. This also keeps the price low, and makes the quad tough, dependable, and easy to service.

I ride a 2007 KQ 450. I love it. I have not done real deep mudding, but I trail ride a lot. I don't have power steering and don't see the need really. I ride tight stuff in the woods a lot this quad is more nimble than you would expect. Throttle response is great. Tons of engine breaking, you can decide if that's a plus or not for you. I like the size. I wanted a good size machine and this fits my 6' 2" self really well without having to go up to a 700 or +. A lot of the other machines in this engine class are (or seem to me) much smaller framed. It is pretty good on gas too. Handles passengers well. Diff lock was also a big factor for me, as I bought it to push snow. I got it for a fair price from a local dealer. Still newish to me, but I just love the machine. Only weirdness? I hooked a BAttery Tender up via the accessory port with the Battery Tender made adapter and it fried the Tender??? Replaced it and went with the pig tails and everything worked perfectly. Good luck! Keep us posted!!

Just like the Old Sportsman 335 was the same size physically as the Sportsman 700.

Good choice Jason
I bought 2008 KQ in 2009 as older model with huge discount. It is same machine in low price. I like how it looks, how it rides. It's lightweight. For trail riding it is NOT underpowered. Suzuki is way to go. Good luck.
