Default Oil Change - LTZ440

Changing the oil in my 2006 LTZ440 (BBKit). I bought some Mobil 1 0W40 because I have heard of people using it in their 4x4 ATV's. Is this safe for this machine as well? Or does it need something else as this is a higher revving engine.

Thanks in advance.

You should not use oil unless it says atv.Your atv is using a wet clutch (your clutch sits in oil) Regular motor oil can mess that up detergents ,ETC .10-40 is what the book calls for Also these motors are thumper type (short stroke) you need a oil that can handle that.

More or less right, as you do not want to run Energy Conserving spec'd oil in wet clutches. However Mobil 0w40 is not energy conserving, but I believe its designed for Euro cars (VW 502 spec?), which has who-knows what in terms of additives. If I were you I wouldn't run any syn or syn blend oil without it being designed or ATV/MC.

Castrol GTX is always a solid fall back dino oil

here we go again with the oil choices its your engine and your pocketbook if its the wrong oil 1.suzuki tells you what oil to use 2. its a motorcycle engine with a wet clutch not your automotive engine. 3. sure m/c oil is alot more money

Have used Mobil 1 for years in Motorcycles of all sizes. Both manual and auto clutches. Never had a worry.
I feel that the Oil companies duck for cover behind a wall when they hear of a DIFFERENT application. Unfortunatly the U.S.A. has a reputation of litigation and this holds back too many from doing things.
Viscosity should be what the manufacturer recommends. Stick to that.

Ok, I made a mistake...Ugg! The oil I just used is Mobil 1 0W30, NOT 0W40. Should I drain it and replace it, or is this okay until the next oil change. I ride in the mountains of Colorado, so when I start the ATV it is somewhat in the 40-50 degree range outside.

Thanks.

according to this Mobile1 is made for wet clutches. I hope so I never seen a street bike NO wet clutch.LOL

Seems to only come in 10w-40 or 20w-50. Your 0w-40 may not be for wet clutches as mentioned, read the lable.
