newport has good info but ill tell you from experience make sure that the shock isnt to big the guy who owned my oold 230 put a to big one and it pushed the swing arm down and the frame up to far so the chain grinded into the swing arm mount and he didnt tell me and i didnt relize it so bout 5 hours of riding my bearings were shot and the bolt was cut in half good thing i noticed the play on the swingarm cuz i was about a hour away from home and i got it all the way til the end of my road but at the same time

I don't remember if that rear shock is rebuildable or not. If it is, a shop that knows suspension can get it better than stock in no time. Otherwise, I would look aftermarket vs oem or finding something off another machine. The previous poster is correct, the shock specifications can be pretty machine specific. Extended and compressed length, spring rate, damping are probably all going to be pretty different for something like the much heavier Warrior for example.

the warrior shock is only an inch longer and it raises your rear about half an inch. i weigh 200 pounds and the warrior shock made it a much better ride than a stock 230 shock. as the warrior is way more adjustable than the 230 stocker. but hey if youd rather pay big bucks for a works or oem rather than buying a warrior shock on ebay for about 20 bucks then to each his own.

Hey thanks newport, that really helps out my wallet. is there any specific year or will any shock from a warrior work? Alos does anyone know any options for exhausts, mines shot, but id rather not buy a dg or a cobra. I was kinda looking to just buy a used one and weld it to the stock pipe. Thanks Joe

look on ebay i took a yosi pipe off a honda street bike and welded it and it worked good. and i wasnt saying warrior shock will not work im just saying some one put a diffrent shock on and it was a nightmare cuz i changed alot of parts before i relized wat the problem was.
