Question repainting shocks

I want to repaint my shocks instead of buying new ones and was wondering if their is a way to separate the springs from the shocks. Also what kind of paint should I should use?

Yes, you should be able to seperate the springs. I have never done it personally, but I know there are some tutorials out there if you look. If it is a rebuildable shock, it might be a good idea to have them serviced and throw a new spring on at the same time. Much cheaper than brand new shocks, and you can alter spring rate for a more tailored ride.

you need to buy or fab up a shock spring compressor........i made one out of old rectangular tubing and some angle iron. they are over 100 to buy one. and any kind of automotive paint will be fine
