more bad luck for me
#1
well something broke on my quad again. it seems like whenever i fix one thing something else breaks. at least it isn't very bad this time. heres how it went: i was getting ready for a riding trip with a bunch of guys (which you can about right here http://forums.atvconnection.com/thre...B=1&Tid=231459 ) and the mount on my silencer broke! it sucked! it shouldn't be broken for long but i still thoguth i'd let u all know about my bad luck. heres what has happened to my quad in the last year in the order it happened.
1. counterblancer breaks off putting a hole in the case
2. i discover the frame is broken in 2 places along the left shock in front.
3. my clutch starts slipping badly.
4. i discover a crack on side and a break on the other underneath the seat.
5. silencer mount breaks.
i wonder what will happen next? i'm willing to bet it will be blown shocks, a flat tire, or more cracks in the frame next.

You guys have cheap problems... I tow my quad and two others on a trailer. I pull them with my '87 Dodge Van, B-250 with 318 CID. I've noticed for some time now that the van shakes like hack when driving between speeds at 45 to 65 MPH. Put it in the shop today to find out what the hack was happening, the guy at the shop just called and said, it's in the rear-end. Not the tires, wheels or driveshaft. The differential! I told him "DON'T TOUCH IT! And what do I owe you? Too cold out for me to get on my back to fix it so I'll take it to a guy I know who works on rear-ends. Still, I'm outta $700 to $900 bucks when he cracks the cover. Maybe a grand. I bought the van new and it has about 160,000 miles on it. She runs like a top. Here we go, you bet, it's gonna get fixed. After this, I think I'll let the others do some pulling with their vehicles for a while...

that's a real sweet car though....
but for fun.. try this my '84 jepp cj7 had 155K mi on it when i bought it. the 4 cylinder was dying fast, one cylinder had valve seals so bad i had to pull its valve gear. compressin was in the 90 psi range... barely running. w/o the e-brake you could push it around in second gear against the compression.
after weighing teh options... rebuilding teh 4cylinder or swapping, i decided that for only a little more $$$ i could have a lot more fun rig.
so i decided to do a swap to the AMC 6 cylinder.... ( convieniently i had one in my dads garage just sitting... paid $200 for it a year before)
you can only imagine the nightmare a swap in one of those is...the clutch & bell housing is only the beginning...
about $1800 and several months later, i had a jeep again.
but now it went a lot quicker.
when i toasted the tranny, i sold it before i absolutely had to replace it.... it was the cheapest one in the trader, at $3500... sold quick, but i made sure that the buyer knew about the upcoming problems
i blew the head gasket on my '91 toyota p-up about a month ago, i'm just now getting it back together... ~$500fix
i still love my quadracer, even though last month it burned a hole through the piston & i still haven't had a chance to work on it. when it runs, it flies, and that's why i love it. i'm even considering building one that's faster, frame up.... just bought spindles, hubs & rotors on ebay.
