my 07 ltz400 quadsport won't start when cold. i can roll start it and everything runs great and the idle is good no back firing or anything but i can not get it to start when i first go to ride it i have to roll start it and let it warm up. after that and i cut it off it will start but takes a few seconds and doesn't start like it use too. any suggestions?

Make sure battery connections are tight and corrosion free, load test the battery at a cycle shop. If battery tests OK, clean starter wiring and connections, as well as solenoid.

The problem is one or more of five things, weak battery, corroded cables, faulty solenoid, faulty starter, bad starter switch. Always use a Battery Tender to keep the battery at full power.

 

Are we talking about starter action is slow or weak when cranking or is it that is just doesn't want to start at all when engine is cold? If it is starter action problem then I agree with heftylefty.

 

Choke it man, choke it. Just kidding. Are talking about it wont turn over?

 

it will turn over just won't start. i have tried choking it even replace the choke cable and throttle cable. rejetted and cleaned the carb and still having the problem
