Yes i checked and the spark is strong. I will clean again but i only saw two simple umm jets maybe and than a main one. I think one is overflow. There is also a needle the throttle cable is attached to. I did not clean that yet. I will try and clean again. Is there any tips on that? Since the reed is 25 years old i am afraid it might break soon and kill the engine. What do you think? It ran for 10 sat for 15. Thanks for all your advice!

Take the jets out, don't worry about the needle jet that's the one that moves up and down in the carb.'s throat. Focus on the one that has all the holes on the sides of it. Remove it with a flathead screwdriver and spray carb. cleaner all in the hole it goes in along with any and all holes and passages you see. Run a small peice of wire through the holes in the pilot jet don't forget the hole that runs up the center of the jet. Put it all back together and see what happens. Just to cover everything have you taken the fuel line off the carb. and turned the fuel on to make sure you have a steady flow of fuel to the carb.? If the reeds are original then I reccommend they be changed but you run the risk of snapping bolts so try to get it running descent before jumping too deep.

Ill have to get on that carb cleaning again. Ill take it apart and let you know after a cleaning how it goes and re-post the results. I replaced the fuel line and the tank was cleaned and flows very well. The carb and the reed would be the only causes of this problem of poor starting and bogging?

If you have 150lbs. of compression then you can rule that out, that's enough to have it run strong. If you have good constant spark then you can rule that out, which only leaves fuel.

O and one more thing, do you know the potential of these quads? I mean upgrades and all can these run along side of modern race style quads? Anyone's opinion?

Ok carb cleaned very well, seemed clean to begin with. Have to put starting fluid in it to get it running, and that gets it going. Than i need to give it 1/4 throttle to keep it running but it makes it run very lean and over rev's. Air leak? Top end? I have compression and strong spark. Remember nothing has been replaced on the quad. So any idea's?

Try not to use starting fluid very bad for 2 strokes no cylinder lubricating. When you have an air leak usually it'll idle real high from sucking air. I'm out of ideas maybe someone else will chime in. Sorry
