Default Stator Magneto Cover Carnage

Hello folks,

Just bought this LT230s a month ago...it wasn't running when I got it and I knew it was going to be a project, of course I hoped a few simple fixes and I could at least ride her once. That didn't happen. So far I've rebuilt the carb and got her running - but then she died. No spark. I tested all the coils and discovered the primary coil wasn't even giving a reading. So off comes the Magneto/stator cover and this is what I discoverd:

I've ordered the primary coil from regulatorrectifier.com - cheapest I could find at $39.99

But since the screws really did a number on the case I need a new case too. Anybody got one for cheap?

check on ebay for the case, or just try drilling them out a little bigger, then tap them. I was looking at your pics, that flywheel looks in bad shape, is that true?

I was hoping something cheaper then ebay.
But I guess $160 is the cheapest

The the flywheel and the primary coil iron where rubbing together, it loosened the magnets on the flywheel and took off quite a bit of material- the flywheel is a paper weight now

If I tapped new holes I guess it might work...thanks for the comment
I was thinking of drilling right thru and bolting the stator in, but that might leak over time. Tapping might work if I can find countersunk screws that would fit.

the case doesnt look that bad. it looks to me that its just scatched up. i may have a extra flywheel laying around. most of my extras have been cleaned and look like new.

you're right its not that bad, I managed to drill out the holes a little larger and retap them - The screws are about double the size now.

i don't need a flywheel anymore I just bought one on ebay for $25 shipping included

Thanks for the offer

I think I've got all the parts to fix this now so please disregard my request for a magneto cover earlier

I've put a multi meter to all the leads and they check within spec...now to get to the swing arm bushings
