Question LT230E project quad need help

Hello I am new to 4 stroke atv world and just got a LT230E I think it is an 87. My problem is it smokes and uses oil bad. It also has a bad vibration when running, moving or not. I want to restore this quad but don't have a lot of cash to spend on it. I also have a warrior with no motor. I have thought of putting the LT230E motor on that frame to improve the ride and handling. Or can I use the warrior parts to improve the LT230E? Thanks for the help and info.

I just got one of those and i had the same problems. I fixed the oil by changing the oil and filter 3 times and riding 20 mins in between. I still cant figure out the vibrating. and it might smoke because bad gaskets or did you oil your filter?

I use a lot of oil and it has oil coming out of a hole in the muffler. It has to be bad rings or complete top end rebuild. But I thought I would ask for any ideas before I take it apart. Just in case there is a cheaper way then a complete top end kit. I don't ride it that often (maybe 2 weekends a year) so what would last a season might last me 2 or 3. The problem is that I look worse the than bug fogger and have to be the last atv. The vibration is what I am worried about the most. Because it feels like the crank is out of balance. Dose this quad have a balance shaft? Dose any one know if warrior shocks will fit a lt230e.

i would rebuild the top end. sounds like the rings are leaking and the valve seals may also be leaking. and as for the vibration it may need the crank rebuilt also. sounds like the crank bearings are shot or the crank is out of balance.

Than can some one tell me the best place to get good parts at a good price and who to send the crank to if need be? Or do I just need to find a machine shop around here that can do the work.
