Just bought used king quad. To check oil, manual says "oil filler cap threads are not run in but touching the filler hole upper edge". I read this as holding the filler cap against the threads, but not threading in. Am I correct, or does the cap need to be fully threaded in to check level?

 

You are correct. The "dip stick" just sits on top of the threads. I'm also sure that you let the engine run then you let it sit for 2-3 minutes then inspect it.
