1998 quadrunner, quit charging and the battery went extremely dead, after installing a used voltage regulator, and new battery, the quad starts and runs, however the regulator gets hot enough to burn you.
is this the stator???

also, I would like to check the stator via OHMS resistance.
which wires would i check?
