1986 lt 250r please help

Default 1986 lt 250r please help

i just got a lt250r 1986 it ran great for two hours i turned it off at the pit for 10minutes tried to start it backfired and bogged out bad i took it home cleaned the carb changed the plug and could not get it to start by kickstart i did get it to start by pushing it down a hill and popping it in gear it wont idle but runs strong but i noticed a mist of gas coming out where the airfilter goes can anyone help please

I think your motor flooded out while sitting.
It also could be a bad reed.

thanks i always turn the gas off when i let it sit do u know if the reeds could lower the compression i just pulled the spark plug and held my finger over the hole it didnt seem to have much compression but it still has the same problems runs strong gas mist still coming from the carb where the air filter goes i was running 32:1 but changed it to 20:1

Reeds won't effect compression IMO.
Get a compression gauge and get a good reading so we can eliminate that aspect. Hold the throttle wide open.

compression gauge is reeding 150 im not sure if that is good or not i did that earlier not sure if i had the throttle open though its to late now neighbors will complain

Pull the stator cover off and make sure you didn't shear the flywheel key.

i sent it to the shop top end got rebuilt new reeds new and a new air filter. starts up runs ok it feels like it is starving for gas and if i dont turn the gas off it pours out the carb. i think it is time for a carb rebuild to.
