Ive got a 87 lt230 quadsport. The other day i was riding it and it started bogging down and missing real bad toward the end of the day. thought maybe some how it might have jumped timing. When i got it home and looked more into the problem, i noticed i wasnt getting any spark. Long story short when i went to check the plug the little metal cap inside the spark plug wire came out and was still attached to the end of the plug. It has threads on it so i tried to screw it back in and check for spark and there was a extremely weak spark (weak enough to hold the plug while cranking).

My questions are more along the line of lookin for more info to test some electrical before i go out and buy a new coil..

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Changed the spark plug wire and cap, needless to say now i have a spark of copper color with a hint of blue. Not too sure which color means strong spark but now she will only stay running on starting fluid. got gas and spark idk what the problem is here..

a great spark should be blue and white. kinda like a lightning bolt.
