Put in spark plug on z400

I have an ltz 400 (2004) and had to take out the spark plug and now cant put it back in. Apparently you have to take off the gas tank but is there any other way to put it back in? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Did u get it out with tank on? Taking it off is the only way I believe

I took it off then put it back on, then tinkered with it and cant get it back on again, if that makes sense

If I remember correctly, there are tabs on the front of the tank that have to be in the right spot for it to go back in place.

I do remember it being a major PITA just to change a plug.
