Smile Drive Belt

Hi guys I'm new to atvs I have a 2005 kingquad 700 with 2500kms on it.I'm trying to learn the maintenance ins and outs for this new toy. When do you think it would be time for me to have to change the belt? I do not drive the bike hard and neither did the previous owner.I also noticed today when I had it for a drive the dashboard display shows the speed in(mph) not (km) can it be changed or just leave it be? Thanks guys

I had an 05 700 also, you only need to change the belt if you notice it slipping or making noise. I used mine pretty hard and never chage the belt.

I just change the belt ever 2000 Miles or 3200klm no matter what since a new belt is only $80 and takes 25 minutes to change.

The belt still looks good after 2000 miles but its a piece of mind thing to me I guess.

Thanks for replies guys I think I will order a new belt since I thought it had 2400km but it was on mph and I use kms.I changed the settings and it now says 4000kms so I guess it's time.

when you change it if it looks good keep it for a spare if you need it on the trails or just keep it at home for that "just in case" moment I bought a brand new quad last spring and in pulling trees and got it wet it started smoking on me when pulling something when I pulled it off I noticed that it was glazed in a couple spots took a piece of sandpaper and roughed up the edges and keep it in the quad for that same reason if in a bind on the trails it will get me out
