1984 LT50 Motor Issues
I have read all the post I can find on the LT 50 and still need some help. I have a 1983 or 1984 LT 50. I have read compression in the cyclinder and it comes out to 50psi. I obvisiously need to have it bored. My question is, do I go with the .20 or .40 over? Is there a better option in this case? I'm getting it to just putt around in and have fun with. The quad is new to me and it has been derestricted and ran great before but along the way it lost compression. They honed it out and said it needed to be bored out.
Second thing, I'm guessing it will be easy to take apart and put back together but I'm not sure because I have never done it. Any tips on this? Is there anything in there I should fix while I'm at it? I need to replace the piston, rings, and gaskets on the motor. Anything else you can think of while I'm in there? The carb has been replaced with a newer better one from what I'm told. The previous owner also got rid of the oil tank and went to premix. Other than that, it's stock. Any pictures would be great to if you have some involving tear down. I'm new to the 2 stroke side of engines and think it would be a fun little project. Thanks in advance for the help.
