Default z400 prob

Hi i'm new here, I recently bought a dvx 400, awesome quad and lots of fun.

this made my brother make a rather hasty decision to get a 2003 z400 (which is the same thing)

The guy he bought it from had redone the top end (entire new head) or so

he claims, anyway we drove it around a bit and it seemed fine at first, but

after a bit we found out it was using to much fuel (in comparison to mine)

it guzzles gas like no tomorrow and sometimes when he starts it it will rev

up like crazy without him hitting the throttle, it also stalls every now and

then, probably from getting to much gas. there are no leaks as far as we

can tell.

he has a little trouble starting it sometimes, i'm assuming the spark plug is

bad from running rich, also when you move the choke back and forth it

while idle it doesn't seem to make any difference, is the choke stuck on ON

or is something else going on here?

Also i think there is a wire/cable missing on his carburator but i'm not sure,

i'll try and post some pics tomorrow

any help appreciated

You might check the vacuum line that runs from the carb to the petcock on the tank it actuates a slide in the carb. I would also try rejetting it see if that helps
