The old ones were not that great. The front fender was split in two. The rear was salvageable with a lot of work. I might sell them down the road, but not sure if they are worth it.
Yeah paid out the nose for them, but better than dropping $7K on a new quad that I won't use that much. If I put $2K into this one I'll have a like new quad that will last me a long time, I'm good.

Well you seen what the ones looked like in the pic I posted and that was 4-5 yrs ago LOL. What you had looked new compared to that lol.
Yes, $7k for a quad is too much. We joke about a $1500 rule around here. It seems no matter how cheap you get a quad, you will always have at least $1500 in it before its over. I just bought a 300 king quad for $600 and I'm trying to break that rule. So far I have $774 in it, but that's only because I had parts laying around already. If I had to buy everything, I would have $1284 in it. Oops, I forgot I just bought a winch for $150 lol

What I would do to prevent the rear plastics from cracking again is make fender supports for the rear plastics. You weld pipe to the grab bar and bend it upwards toward the fenders. Then put rubber feet on the end so they don't scratch the plastics. The lt250r I believe had them, and you don't see the plastics broken on them very often.

There is something about the 250s plastics that's particularly weak and makes them very brittle. It about like having a giant potato chip as a fender. It would be interesting to see if other models in 1989 and 90 had the same problem. Maybe it was the mix of chemicals in the plastics. My plastics from 1986 are doing very well in comparison. Something changed in 1989.

First thing is I am not putting those heavy black mudflaps on the front fenders. That should get rid of some of the pull on the fronts. The backs...I don't plan on doing wheelies on the machine. At 47 gotta stay safe and healthy to go on taking care of the family. I'll enjoy it putting along the trails with the kid to keep him happy.

1989 lt250s
I am new to the forum and would really appreciate some help. I also have a lt250s that needs plastic. Do I have to get them from Suzuki or is there another place that has them?

Wooly
You can get them here. I think they might still have the rears. The fronts were no problem.

I called them and talked with them about the fenders and made sure I could get both. Didn't want to get one new one and have to have the ratty rears still on the machine.
I tried to order the blue hood, but it is discontinued and not in stock anywhere that I could find. I did get all the decals for the LT250s from them. I had to get the part number for the 250 decal from the 1989 list of parts since I couldn't find it on the 1990 side.
