Need Help! Quad performance question!
#1
What my quad is:
Okay, i have a 2007 z400 Limited Edition, and it has a white brothers exhaust, Dynatek FS Ignition, It is Jetted, and has a 13 tooth front sprocket (stock is 14 and i have a stock rear sprocket which is 40) It has Maxxis Razr tires (95% tread, and they are 22's) Plus alot of other aftermarket parts but these are just the performance parts.
What my friends quad is:
My friend has a 2003 z400 which has a motoworks exhaust (not jetted) and he rebuilt his top end (piston, and new timing chain) over the summer. I Am unsure of his sprocket teeth but i do remember him telling me that they are not stock.
What my question is:
Okay i purchased my quad 3 days ago and me and my friend both have a z400 now, but mine is newer and has more performance parts on it. We were riding side by side, i was in 5th gear (top gear) full throttle and then he comes blazing past me on his. My questions is how is his faster than mine, because i can keep up with him but his quad always manages to go faster. Idk what it is. He said its because he rebuilt his but i am unsure, which is why i am asking you guys! why is his quad faster than mine?
Added info:
When he was infront of me on the road and i was 5th gear full throttle (top gear) and i was getting pretty high in the rpm's just to keep up with him. Then he gives his more throttle and he just takes off faster. Please give me some help/tips!
(BTW: I Raced motocross for 2 years before i bought this quad, so i know how to ride, i am not an inexperienced rider)

Yeah, i am buying a 42 tooth rear sprocket soon. So would a 13 tooth front and 42 tooth rear (14 and 40 stock) make my gearing a little faster? And no he didnt big bore his i know that for a fact. But he probably did put a high comp piston. Any other ideas?

LMAO

smaller front= less speed/more torque
bigger rear= less speed and more torque.....
Your wanting a 14/38 and go from there.
I think someone put the 13 front on to make it more managable in the tight woods.

Okay, thanks for some gearing info. Any other things to increase power or to "refresh" anything. The guy put in a new CR7E NGK Resistor spark plug before i purchased it, i have 2 more brand new ones. So spark plug shouldnt be all gunked up or anything.
