Default 91 suzuki LT4 250 4x4

I was just given a suzuki 250 in a few pieces nothing to bad the guy said it was running and had plenty of power and then as he was riding it it lost power but would sit there and idle fine and would go but half heartedly. he told me that he cleaned the carb and that did not fix the problem and he thinks it is the stator so he took off the cover to that but stopped there the stator is around 150.00 but to me it does not sound like it would be that it sounds to me like the carb needs to be rebuilt ????? any ideas would be greatly appriciated

Check the fuel pump. My 300 (same thing really) started acting like that, but because its so souped up that it sucks the bowl dry. The fuel pump can't keep up with too much WOT. In your case, the pump isn't working very well at all. Try filling the tank all the way up and blowing on the hose that comes from the cap to pressurize the tank. That can give you an idea if its the pump.

The pump works off engine vacuum. Make sure all the hoses are good and connected.

I heard the stators are rock solid on these. It wouldn't be that. Regulators are weak on these quads. Almost everyone has to change one eventually.

Make sure the spark plug is good too. Try different plugs. New plugs don't mean good plugs.

Just use black rtv. A gasket is only needed if you expect to be taking it apart again in the future. If you oil the gasket real good, when you take it back apart, the gasket won't stick and tear, so you can use it again and not have to clean the surfaces. I'd be surprised if you ever needed to take it apart again. Black rtv will work fine. Don't gob it on, smear it real thin with your finger.
