Anyone know what the stock size piston and rings are on the LT 80?

Or the one oversize is?

Stock is 50mm.
1st bore is 50.5mm.
FYI:: I use stock Suzuki or Pro-X pistons.

 

Thanks, I actually just ordered new pistons and rings, 50.25mm.

Make sure whoever bores it to allow for .0035 clearance.
Is your cylinder scored much?

 

Scored much? Not sure, I'm just a Mom here trying to get all the info I can to get this lt 80 running good. I'm going by what my mechanic has been saying, and getting a little more info here too.
Looking for someone to bore the cylinder for me, you in GA?

 

Nope. Pa.
Cylinders are usually scored some. Whether 1/4mm will clean it up is why I asked.
I'd be happy to do it all for you if you can't find anyone.
So you don't know if there is a top end problem?
What's the machine doing (or not doing)?

 

I took it to a shop (good friends shop) who told me it needed new rings. I made the mistake of buying after market rings (wiseco 50.5mm) and they apparently were too thin so they didn't fix our problem. The bike is a 1996 and it just won't start. It turns over and over. If I hit with starting fluid it will start, but after we ride for a while over 40 mins or so, it sometimes stalls and won't start again. Got a new carb installed, new plug, cleaned fuel tank and new fuel lines, new air filter, we use the existing fuel pump that mixes the gas and oil, although I was told cut the pump off and mix gas oil our self.

So meanwhile, this bike has been having issues we got a Honda trx 70 for him to ride but really want this Lt 80 going. At this point I'm scared of two strokes.

I hate to second guess the mechanic but I am!

I just purchased Wiseco Pistons and Rings and I'm going to have the cylinders bored out. Hope this works.
