Default Camshaft ?s..

Ok I have a few ?s regarding my cam. It's a stage 1 hotcam and its going in a 92 suzuki lt230e quadrunner bored .40 over(67mm) and on the spec paper that cam with it it calls for intake valve lash .15mm and exhaust .36mm .... That seems like alot to me! Just wondering. So I set intake valve lash at tdc and exhaust at bdc? Just seemed like alot of lash to me

Yeah that does seem like a lot. I would set them at .001-.003 intake and .003-.005 exhaust and set them both at TDC.

.15 mm converts to.0059 inches and .36mm converts to .0141 of an inch that's alot right but that's what is says right on the spec sheet

Hotcams people are a bunch of idiots. They are just salesmen who don't know anything.

Hotcams stage 1 is a stock cam. Set it at stock values.

Lesson learned. Don't buy Hotcams, rods, or Hot-anything. Its Taiwan crap. Buy Vesrah (japan), OEM (japan), or a cam from a real cam grinder.

If you set the lash at what they say to, you'll skip right over the part of the cam made to lift and set the valve down gently. Plus, you'll have less duration than you could have... and less lift too.

No its probably a stock cam with a performance name. Even the stage 1 webcam, which IS a different cam for sure, doesn't have more performance. Everyone who's had a stage 1 webcam has been disappointed.

Here's my post from 6yrs ago about hotcams http://forums.atvconnection.com/suzuki/226867-85-88-suzuki-lt230s-quadsport-help-34.html#post2468109
