Default Front End Weight

I have a 1987 Suzuki 300 LTE Model H. As I am sure everyone who has had or do have knows the front end is extremely light on these bikes. Any suggestions on how to get more weight up front and more importantly how much weight is needed? Would a winch up front be good enough? Should attach some type of weighting on the frame below the rack?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions or knowledge on the matter.

Ditto.. I really gotta lean into every little turn I make when riding. Even a slight turn w/o leaning fwrd and the bike wants to go straight. I've always shrugged it off but would like to hear what ppl have to say.

I have an 89 Lt250s Quadsport.

Thank ya

That 300cc motor in mine if you aren't careful will raise the front tires if you get on it. the wheel base is so short is most likely the reason. I use mine as a hunting 4 wheeler and am pleased with everything aside from the light front end.

Besides short wheel base the 300KQ has smaller lighter front wheels and the motor sits much further to the rear of ATV then most other ATVs.

The weight of a aftermarket brush guard and winch with it's mounting plate would add 80lbs to the front at least.

Do you think 80 lbs is enough?Should it be more?

You can test it out buy putting a 80lb load on your front rack.
I just took my winch and mounting plate off my Sportsman after the winch died and I could feel it not being there any longer.

ok thanks. I am still working out the kinks in this one. When I got it the bike wouldn't crank with the starter, wouldn't idle, dead battery, flat tires and was in pieces with much of the hardware missing. It is shaping into a nice 4 wheeler now. Still doesn't idle very good....took the carb apart twice now and cleaned it, now am running some seafoam thru it to see if I can clear it up a little more. It is definitely getting a ton better.

Might not be the thing to do, but all I can think of is buy tubes for your front tires and fill with water and a little anti-freeze. Cheaper than buying weights/winch if you don't have to. Not sure how it would handle with weight right on the tires though. Not sure how much water you'd need either, you'd just have to put some in and drive around and add/subtract til you felt comfy with it.
