Default Suzuki vinson

So I was ridin my dads 04? Suzuki vinson the other day just around the snow because my z400 isn't good in snow. I used the 4x4 only when needed which was very little. It's the model where you push the button on the right side of bars. It lights up when I push it on the center panel where it shows the speed but it doesn't engage? Why is this? I looked it up but can't seem to find out why. Many were saying stuff about the actuator. I don't usually do the 4wd on the move I stop and press it.

You can take the actuator off. There are 2 bolts that hold it to the front diff. Push the 4x4 button with it off and see if it moves. If not check the wires for power and ground. If good power and ground then you need the actuator. With the actuator off you can use a socket to turn the 4x4 in and out and see if it works.
