I have a 1987 quadzilla and ride in the woods all summer. I think it is a fine machine for the woods. Yes, it has bottom end. More bottom end than you will find on most quads. Mine isn't a bit stock though so my opinion may be biased. Big bore 2 stroker is the way to go. When I ride with the wife I will change my gearing so that I can go slow in first gear in the woods. Otherwise I have it geared 14/39 which according to factory Phil's excel spreadsheet, gives a top speed of 94 mph. I'm not sure if that is accurate however. It is great in the dunes with this gearing.
