Default LT80 Wont rev up

Not sure on the year quad I have here, but it is an lt80. The thing will start up and idle, kind of rough/low. As soon as I hit the gas it bogs out and may stall. Sometimes I can feather the throttle to coax it up to speed but not always. I have put a new carb kit in it, cleaned the carb several times, new plug, checked compression at about 130lbs, removed exhaust to check for restriction, checked piston condition through exhaust port, new air filter, checked fuel flow through petcock, checked vacuum and vent lines, replaced fuel line. Don't know what else to check, timing maybe? Nothing really happened to it prior to this. I pulled all the shrouds off to clean out a mouse nest infiltration, put it back together and wouldn't run. Is there any wires a mouse could have got to that would cause this?

Yes...timing...that's what I'd check next...could be stator position or could be sheared crank key...

I'd also look at your reeds - pull your cage and verify they are still good...

LT80 will be along to cover anything I may have missed...

kinda what I was thinking. Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like the engine has to be pulled to get at the flywheel? Looks like the brake lever/ frame crosses right in front of what I need to get to.

Got the flywheel off and the key was still intact, all the wires look good and unchewed, no burning on the stator coils and everything was lined up, now I am at a completr loss. Was sure I would find a sheared key.

So, I figured it out. I reread your post and went back to the reed cage, which I missed the first time I read it. Pulled the cage out, and there was a piece of an acorn that was logged between the reed and the cage, holding it open. Stupid mice, cant believe what they get in to. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Lmao
Once I seen "nest" I sorta figured. Bastids get nuts everywhere. Might want to check the clutchs.

Brink - you're gonna want to listen to Jack's advice and pull the clutches...even if you think it's running fine, there could be more to have...I recently got 2 of these things, neither's clutch had been services...ever...

Glad to hear it was a simple fix (sorry you pulled the flywheel first)...most forget just how important the reed cage is on the mighty 2-stroke!!!

Ya, done this before.
I'd bet on alot of mouse nest/nuts/etc in the clutch. If they got into the air filter side, they got into the rest. The urine corrodes alum nasty.
You can give nasty face emoticon if I'm wrong.
