Default Ozark 250 Shifting issue

The other day I was coming down the mountain coasting in neutral trying to keep from running high rpm for a long period of time. When I got to a sharp turn, I slowed down so that I could put it into first gear. I was going a little faster than I thought and it sounded real bad. The back tires started dragging and the engine reved up, so I quickly stomped both brakes and came to a stop. Now my four wheeler does not shift nearly as smooth as it did. I have to rock back-and-forth sometimes to put it in gear when I'm sitting still and when I shift it's like a hard click. The warmer the atv gets the worse it gets. When I take off it kinda jumps instead of smoothly taking off. I'm not the greatest at atv transmission work so I was hoping before I tear into it, maybe someone would know what I might have done? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless.

Try adjusting the clutch.
