Default Which vin letter tells you the sub model on a quadracer

I've been trying to get some parts lined up for my kid's '86 250R, but the parts catalogs break it down into two different models. One part numbers will be for models F & G, and models H,J,K,L,M, & N will have a different part number. Anyone else had to deal with this? And how did you figure out which one? I'm sure it's somewhere in the vin, but not sure which digit.

Put the vin number in here and see if that helps.

Gave it a whirl. Came back as an "unknown". Double checked that I typed it in correctly, but no luck

Could always call a Suzuki dealer and see if they can clear it up.

If it is a true 85 or 6 model it is an f(85) or g(86). 87 and up models have a power valve motor, and the t style seat. There were updates most years after 87, but the basic machines are similar. 85 and 6 have a case Reed motor from a trail bike, straight seat, a slightly smaller chassis etc. Those machines have a lot of differences from the 87 and up machines.
