My $0.02 is NOT to get the cheapo kit...Jack's work is top notch and it will fit together they way it's supposed to...$85 more may seem a lot but it's peanuts compared the aggravation of installing those Chinese kits. I know...I just installed one and it sucked!!

I agree, I don't go the cheapo route either. My only concern is, anyone have a guestimate as to what total cost would be around? I got the quad very cheap with the hopes to get it running with as little as possible. With 5 kids, one in college and a single income, things are kinda tight around here. Not sure I can invest too much in this project. Not crying, just want to know what I'm getting into. Things were a lot more affordable way back when I rode.

Jack says he gets $135 plus shipping...I believe that's everything you need to get up & running...
If your budget is limited you most certainly can go the Chinese route...but I caution it will not fit together as well, have less power and if you don't really know what you're doing you could be rebuilding it again real soon. I wouldn't be ******* the Chinese setup unless I had very recent experience with it...

Yup...you'll want to give him a call and get the full scoop (and address). He'll match the piston to the bore and ensure the ring gap is in spec...
Shipping is cheap as the jug fits into one of those set-price USPS boxes...
I got the stage 2 kit from Jack...his machine work is top notch as I've seen more than my fair share of 2-stroke port work over the years...

Here is where I start giving back. LOL
Take DirtDevil's advice and go with LT80. Here is my thread on my rebuild.

I honestly wish I would have spent the extra money and I think I would have been back on the road sooner.
