Default 2005 Suzuki King Quad 700 FI rear diff. issues?

How much play are the axles supposed to have? I can grab the axle hubs up by the diff, while in the diff, and move them back and forth probably 1/4-1/2". I ask b/c both seals have gone out and let mud into the diff housings. And one seal is no more than 4 months old and it hasn't been ran that much. I'm guessing by the seals going bad this fast and the axles moving that the bearings are wore out... But if they are.. who knows of some less expensive ones that work? The only ones I can find are from Suzuki and they are like $60-80 a piece.

I would be surprised if you can't get a diff bearing kit from firms like All *****. We can get kits in the UK. The seals don't last long on the 450 to 750 KQ.

Not sure if you can check this on the 700 but my usual method of checking diff bearings is to remove filler plug, shine a light on the crownwheel, and wiggle the driveshaft up and down. If the crownwheel moves up and down, you have worn bearings, play in the shafts isn't a good indicator as they are very sloppy on the splines when new. If you can't see the crownwheel through the hole, check for bearing lift when you are fitting a new seal. The rear diff needs special oil.

Merryman, you are the man! You've given me more information and advice than the stealership has even hinted at offering me. I will look into that. Thanks!
