When I bought my Quadracer a few months ago the guy I got it form told me it was an '88. When I went to order a set cover i foun out tht the plastics math the 85-86. Is there ny way I an figure out it's true age by looking at serial numbers on the frame or engine. Thanks for any help.

198? Lt250r:
ceet seat cover, DG nerfs, holeshot rear and fast trekker fronts, fmf pipe and silencer, engine recently bored, ported and polished.

look at the engine, if theres a read cage where the carburator connects, chances are its newer then an 86, otherwise if there is no read cage, but reads on the bottom of the cylinder its an 85 or 86, hope this helps.

I believe the seats on the '85/'86 machines were the conventional straight seat. Starting in '87 the seats went to a T-bone shape. Also if it has original plastic on the front end, the first 2 years the nose piece was black. That swithced to blue in '87.

I bought a 1990 250 Quadracer that had a straight seat. The guy who sold it to me could apparently sell the T-shaped seats for a good price and get the straight ones cheap. So, it may be an '88 but the person put an older seat on it. Like the others have said, you can tell what year it is by some of the features, serial number, or sticker with the manufacturing date.

Look at your engine, if it is aluminum color then it is an 85 or 86.If it is blue than it is an 87-92

The end of the swingarm on 85 and 86 is round, on 87 and newer it is square.
